Functional Description

3500/22M is a Transient Data Interface Module manufactured and designed by Bently Nevada as part of the 3500 Series used for monitoring seismic activity. The 3500/22M Transient Data Interface (TDI) is the interface between the 3500 monitoring system and compatible software (System 1 Condition Monitoring and Diagnostic software and 3500 System Configuration software). The TDI combines the function of a 3500/20 Rack Interface Module (RIM) with the data collection capability of a communication processor such as TDXnet.

Installed in the slot adjacent to the power supplies of a 3500 rack, the TDI interfaces with M series monitors  (e.g., 3500/40M, 3500/42M) continuously gathering steady state and transient dynamic (waveform) data. This data is then transmitted via an Ethernet link to the host software. 

Standard static data capture capability is inherent to the TDI. However, utilizing an optional Channel Enabling Disk enables the TDI to capture dynamic and high-resolution transient data as well. Functioning as a communication processor within the 3500 rack, the TDI enhances data collection capabilities.

Although the TDI offers functionalities common to the entire rack, it does not form a part of the critical monitoring path and does not impact the proper operation of the overall monitor system for automatic machinery protection. Each 3500 rack necessitates one TDI or RIM, invariably occupying Slot 1 next to the power supplies.
